I started out my career with a radio show in college. My Dad knew when the show was, and though I played only hip hop, rap and reggae, he would call me and request random songs he knew I didnt have. After graduating, a few times I worked overnights at different radio stations...and again, though my formats were smooth jazz and hits and oldies, he would call...disguise his voice, and always request The Mighty Clouds of Joy or The Blind Boys from Alabama. Finally, I landed a temporary gig playing Gospel and Inspirational music and, one morning when he again called oout of the blue...I was at last able to play one of his requests. Thinking of this always makes me laugh and cry. Good Sunday morning to you all, this one goes out to Eddie.
