I think I post this every Veterans/Remembrance Day, but it bears - TopicsExpress

I think I post this every Veterans/Remembrance Day, but it bears repeating. Today in 1999, Craig Kenneth Bryant and I were flying out of Edinburgh International Airport and at 11:11 everything stopped. In an airport at least as busy as Nashvilles, no one moved for one minute. Everyone stood silently giving thanks to those who had made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good. While I know our Veterans Day is somewhat different than the UKs Remembrance Day, the distinction in the reaction is striking. If we had the same custom here, I somehow doubt that everyone at Green Hills Mall would come to a screeching halt for 60 seconds just to give silent thanks. Take a just one minute at 11:11 today to thank those who have both survived and fallen to allow us our Starbucks coffee and the thousand other perks an open and free society gives us.
