I was informed by the Dean’s office that my promotion to the rank of Professor was approved after a two year review process. I want to thank all the nearly 20 people who wrote letters of support for my dossier and the many, too many to list here, who have helped me along the path. I want to especially thank Nancy, Becca and Patrick, and my sisters and brother, to those who I have worked closely with over the past 30 years especially the late E. Richard Brown, my other UCLA colleagues, Paul Torrens, Jerry Kominsky, Steve Wallace, and those in public health trenches including Jon Freedman and Jonathan Fielding and so many others. To those at USC who are my close colleagues especially, Chris Feifer, Dean Carmen Pulifito, Lourdes Baezconde-Garbanati Luanne Rohrbach, Tom Valente, Jo Marie Reilly, Greg Stevens, Jerry Gates, and Erin Quinn. This is especially an honor to come at a time when we are about to implement the Affordable Care Act that I and so many worked so hard to pass, and are now working to implement. Finally to the many students who have crossed my path, thank you for your inspiration and hard work.
