I was tagged to list my top-ten most life-altering or influential books by Hilary Hill. Although I am a librarian and have read literally hundreds of books, my list may not make sense to some. I was influenced by Nancy Drew as a teenager. She was an independent young woman who was raised in a single-parent household. She was brave and adventurous and was loyal to her friends. She always fought for the underdog. Those were great lessons for a girl from a single-parent household. And, the Walter Farley, Black Stallion books allowed me to close my eyes and imagine galloping on the back of a wonderful black stallion. My brother, George, turned me on to The Chronicles of Narnia and Tolkiens Trilogy as well as Crichtons science fiction works.
