I was up 6.30 – back to normal today but it is still very dark then so here we are at 7.30 with a sky full of a rather attractive medley of grey clouds milling about up there though there appears to be no wind at all on ground level. There is a hint of gold in the sky to the east so we may have sun putting in a welcome appearance later & it still feels warm. Fidelio is back in London where he is collapsed exhausted- it takes it out of a cat –weighing a ton slumped in a basket being admired by fellow passengers on the train…soon a wheeled basket may be necessary to transport him with a hole for his head & perhapsa sou’ wester for foul weather? I love the way Fidelio transmogrifies from wimp cat to prowling beastie when he come here, though he has not yet come to terms with the fact that you can chase a bird to the top of a tree - & voila! It flies away…leaving astounded cat staring with longing at this fleeing snack. I am not at all sure if he would actually consume a bird but he demolishes flies pretty comprehensively – though he got stung once & sat shaking his paw, amazed & very put out! I promised my public the other night that I will get back to some serious writing so that they can read my next novel & I am looking forward to this in a slightly hesitant way & I will. Last night Janine Alsford = a member of my( late) writing group won the £500 first prize for her short story at the Writers in Southampton competition. Congratulations to her I was chuffed for her! Clever woman !
