I went to City Hall in Dublin last week for another history - TopicsExpress

I went to City Hall in Dublin last week for another history lecture, this time about the tercentenary of Dr. Charles Lucas. Tilted my head back – amazed at the beauty of the work of the dome. Looked at my feet – struck by the beauty of the Mosaic in this late 17th century building. The Thomas Cooley designed City Hall marked the introduction of neo-classical architecture to Ireland. I love the soaring and beautifully decorated space and when the security guard said that people rent the space to be married, it reminded me of the implications of a City Hall wedding at home – a plebeian event compared to the splendid pomp possible here.
