I work predominantly on the Cumberland Plain Woodland and grasslands in Western Sydney which are a veg community under dire threat by land clearing/urbanisation and invasive flora species. I dont normally see this much stuff coming up within the same 5 square meters, today must have been special (weve had some rain in the past week). I think the host dead wood is probably Lucidem ligustrum (commonly known as Privet, a weed), which forms the majority of the tree species in this specific area along a creek line with a few scattered Eucalyptus amplifolias and mostly invasive Tradascantia as ground cover. Cant compete with the finds at Dooleys over the weekend but this is not a bad run for Doonside (a suburb in western Sydney, anyone who knows it will understand).
