IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON: THE THREE FEET FROM GOLD. One of the most common causes of failure is the habbit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat. Have you heard about the men who stopped drilling three feet from gold? An Uncle of R. U. Darby was driven by the desire of being rich during the gold rush days. He went west of Williamsburg, Maryland to dig gold so he can become rich. He went to work with pick (sururu) and shovel (chepe). The going was tough but his desire for acumulating riches through gold was definite. After weeks of labour he discovered the shining ore (a hard shining rock consisting minerals inside). But he needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface. He covered the mine and went home to collect funds from relatives and other neighbours.. The Uncle and Darby joined efforts and hey got together money for the needed machinery and had it shipped and then went back to work the mine. The returns of the first car of ore proved that they had one of the richest mines. More few cars of the ore would clear their debts then would come the big killing in profits. Down went the Drills! Up went the hopes of Darby and Uncle! Unfortunately the VEIN OF GOLD ORE DISAPPEARED! They had come to the end of the rainbow and the hope of more gold was no longer there. They drilled on, desperately trying to pick up the vein again but nothing they got. Finaly they decided to QUIT. They sold the machinery to a junk man for few hundred dollars and went back home. Some junk men are dumb but not this one. He called in a mining engeneer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engeneer advised that the project had failed because the owners were not familiar with fault lines. His calculations showed that the gold vein would be found again JUST THREE FEET FROM WHERE THE UNCLE AND DARBY HAD STOPPED DRILLING...!!! and thats exactly where it was found. While the Uncle and Darby were busy finding money to pay the debts, the junk man become a billionaire from selling gold from the very same mine. R. U. Darby didnt gave up. He learnt the lesson and move on to become the largest insurance seller in his days making millions of money. LESSONS: > Never give up on your dream > Seek proffesional advice if you are not very familiar with what you are doing > Failure in one thing doesnt mean that you are finished >When one door is clossed, seek to open another.
