INCREASE CALORIES AND LOSE FAT! Eating 200 calories a day will lose you weight. Fact. But how long will it last and is it healthy? Not long and no are the answers. Show me someone who looks and feels awesome eating 200 calories a day?! Of those who lose a significant proportion of their body weight through a crash diet, 80% of those people put it back on within a year...and many put on more fat than they originally had!! Its easy to lose *weight* through a diet. Keeping the *fat* off...now thats the challenge which the majority of us fail at. The body doesnt respond well to dieting, the majority of us would be better doing nothing at all. So the key is to diet on as many calories as you can. Remember, the word diet has been hijacked to mean short term quick fix, however the word actually comes from the Latin, diaeta meaning way of life. Is 200 calories a day a way of life? Are you still going to be doing it in 5 years time? Restricting calories promotes catabolism within your body...basically the body will eat itself for fuel. Your hormones are working against you, you remain hungry, your brainpower and its mojo drop. Leptin regulates body fat storage. A rapid decrease in calories actually sees the levels of leptin in your body drop...therefore the ability to regulate body fat storage suffers. Those who regularly cycle diets and fluctuate their weight actually build up an efficiency within their bodies to survive on the limited and erratic supply of calories...which isnt a good thing. Because when it actually comes to trying to lose fat (not losing weight) the bodys efficiency actually makes it difficult for them! In a calorie-restricted diet the body will do all it can cling on to fat stores. The key is to maintain lean body mass (our true fat burner) whilst reducing your body fat. By restricting calories your body will eat away at your lean body mass. So you need to get into a daily routine of keeping your calories (quality ones at that) high whilst becoming healthier and stronger working out. We dont do this by eating three pizzas instead of one. A way is to increase our protein and fibre. Both are thermogenic...meaning you burn a high amount of calories in breaking these foods down. As they take longer to breakdown you remain fuller for longer to boot. But the main thing is to ensure youre keeping your quality calorie levels high around an effective exercise routine. So all you slimming club groupies, were not for one minute telling you to go home and consume an extra 2,000 calories. Our main issue with these clubs is the way they do not stress the importance of effective and regular exercise. Inactivity, not food, is the killer. You need to ramp up your metabolism by becoming and remaining active. This isnt done by going to the gym for a week. Its a slow burner but its achieved by going to the gym for the rest of your life. Only this way will you become efficient at reaching your goals through a higher calorie diet. Restricting your body of calories and nutrients is one of the worst things you can do. Our body is an extremely intelligent and powerful being...it will find a way of surviving on such an erratic eating pattern. And thats by storing the bits that we really want to lose...body fat! Master the art of being healthy whilst keeping your calories high and youve cracked it. A bit deep but we hope that makes sense to you. Please shout if youve any questions...
