Im in Lappland at the moment (in northern Sweden), in a wooden hut in a wood in the middle of nowhere. Ive just made hedgehog mushroom soup from mushrooms I found in the woodland outside of the village hall where we had a shower. Nearly had a sauna, but thats not allowed by the community until after 7pm at night, and we were there in the late afternoon sunlight. :) Anyway, as my thanks and appreciation to the Sami people for being able to experience a weekend away in their land (in Mattiass parents summer cabin) and for their mushrooms, I want to start with Sofia Jannok, the most famous pop musician representing her people. She wants to fight their oppression with positivity and creativity. This is her most famous song. (Also, the Sami people traditionally have their own herds of reindeer run by the matriarchs of the family. Though apparently Sofias uncle is responsible for the reindeer in the Cairngorms.
