INFORMED VOTING is a basic civic duty. Informed means that you know something about American history, including the contents of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, that you have thought through the implications of those documents for your basic philosophy of life, that you know something about how such principles relate to current issues, and how the candidates views would lead them to handle those issues, as well as something about the candidates track records in terms of both competence and character. Voting means that you show up and mash the buttons. *Informed* voting. It is a two-part duty. If you have not troubled yourself with the former element of it, please do not bother with the latter.
