ISIS are ambitious monsters. This is the map for their future Caliphate. Bear in mind that the US Embassy in Benghazi was providing diplomatic cover for a CIA arms depot that was tasked with the redistribution of Libyan arms to al Qaeda units in both Syria & also in the Maghreb - & certainly Syrian ISIL fighters were involved in the takeover of Mosul. During the takeover, they aquired a large amount of military hardware, $430 million in Iraqi Dinar & an undisclosed sum in gold bullion. They have also taken over small oil fields & recently seized Iraqs largest refinery at Baiji. That pretty much makes them self-sufficient.
