Identity Theft Arrest While conducting follow-up investigation on a case originating in Orange County involving mail and identity theft, detectives from the Huntington Beach Police Department along with agents from the United States Secret Service and United States Postal Inspection Service went to a residence in the 16000 block of Bartlett Lane in Huntington Beach. Huntington Beach Police Detectives and the US Secret Service Agents were operating as part of the Los Angeles Electronic Crimes Task Force while investigating this case. The Task Force is part of an established formal working relationship between the Huntington Beach Police Department, the United States Secret Service and a number of other law enforcement agencies from throughout the Los Angeles region formed to combat electronically related crimes. A Federal Search Warrant was served at a residence in Huntington Beach. Investigating Detectives/Agents found stolen mail, forged documents, and evidence of identity theft. Kenneth Everett, age 49 from Huntington Beach, Ca. was arrested for a variety of charges including mail theft and conspiracy to commit identity theft. Everett is currently being held in federal custody awaiting court proceedings. No further details are being released at this time Tips for residents: · Don’t leave outgoing mail or freshly delivered mail in your mailbox · Only put outgoing mail in the slot inside the post office · If you have to drop mail in a street mail box, do it as short a time prior to the posted pick up time by the post office as possible · If you see someone acting suspicious around mail or mail boxes make note of their description and vehicle and call the police
