If I do get into that ring there are going to be some seriously butt-hurt people. Lately I feel more and more obligated to apply my energy and experience in an attempt to combat the current rate of decline. There are many skills I have yet to bring to bear on this situation. I am encouraged by discovering, through meeting and listening to people from all sides, there is a glimmer of hope that still burns. Throughout my research I am inundated with horror stories of bizarre experiences. For people to allow themselves, or more accurately, choose to behave contrary to the most basic of tenants and social mores completely eludes me. As humans there are some aspects of our interactions which should be considered inherent in our existence in a society. I expect a hell of a lot more of myself, and I look for that same personal expenditure in people I allow to get close to me. All we are is what we are known for when our name is mentioned. We are only what our word means. It really is a very small pond. A puddle, really, and its pretty easy to see the bottom. It would serve us well to take a moment and step back and view the arena with a relaxed, disinterested view. Review and revise our attitude and approach; correct our thinking and our expectations to be more in accord with reality. We need to realize there are consequences and benefits to our reputation and attitude. FaceBook seems like a great place to rant, but those posts are read, much like bumper stickers, which gives the reader plenty take in. Think about it. There is a meme going around that I can seriously relate to: I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood: I have no problem going out the same way. (While many people may think this post is directed at them, it is most likely an erroneous supposition.)
