If hurricane Sandy and the drought in the west cost 100 Billion dollars in 2012 (see below), from my Cost Engineering background the estimated costs attached to this report, although very gutsy as it is one of the firsts, has the decimal places far too conservatively placed. Move them to the right at least 3 places. From USA Today The largest global disasters of 2012 were Hurricane Sandy (with a cost of $65 billion) and the year-long Midwest/Plains drought ($35 billion), according to the companys Annual Global Climate and Catastrophe Report, which was prepared by Aon Benfields Impact Forecasting division.
