If youre in the San Pedro, CA area and are able to long term foster or adopt Kathryn Williamss two cats, please contact her. Here is her story: Bottom Line Up Front: We are moving to Australia and our two awesome kitties cant go because Australia is very strict about importing animals. Looking for a foster home for two years or a permanent home. Location: Los Angeles, California Full story: My husband and I are moving from the USA to Australia for my job and just found out our two 3 year old cats cant come with us. We intended to take them with us and began to follow all the instructions to import cats to Australia. We downloaded all the instructions and had them tested for rabies (not cheap) 6 months before our departure date (Nov 10th) and were just getting ready to finalize things health-wise as required by Australian regulations when we became concerned about a very benign virus that both cats likely have. Our cats were adopted from a shelter in Los Angeles and both probably have Feline Herpes Conjunctivitis. Our vet told us this is common in shelter cats and some outdoor cats. Enzo occasionally is symptomatic but Lily never is. We manage the virus by mixing Viralys powder with their food every day. Since Australia is so strict with importing pets, we reached out to them to determine whether this would be an issue. They said that if either cat showed any symptoms during quarantine they would have to be sent back to the USA at our expense or destroyed. We were devastated. We have asked family and friends if they would take them and none can for one reason or another. So we are reaching out for help. Would you please share my story on FB to see if anyone knows anyone who might be interested anyone taking our 2 cats and love them for at least the two years we are in Australia? If they wanted to adopt them permanently we understand that too and are ok with that. At this point we just want them to have a good home andn are so heartbroken with the entire situation. Here are some pictures of them. imgur/a/9NByw What is not included in the Reddit post my husband put up because I dont want anyone to take them for money is that we will provide and cover all expenses for them for the 2 years. We will have food, litter, viralys, Advantage, etc. delivered to their new home and will re-imburse for all vet bills.
