Im gonna say it - The reason Psytrance will never catch on (besides the fact it all sounds the same) is because its overly contrived and pretentious. Even the people involved and that like it have a pretentious air about them. House, on the other hand, has always been welcoming, has always been anything BUT pretentious, and is definitely NOT contrived. And, to be real, is more VERSATILE than Psytrance, which is why the the psytrance producers have been trying to introduce house into psy, and fail miserably (because they really dont understand the OPENNESS of house) The fail point, mostly, is the people involved. They pretend to be something theyre not, and cant get over THEMSELVES. House has the potential to be hypnotic. Psy will always be cliquish, exclusive, and have to use heavy handed tricks to hypnotize people. House will always be real, and psy will always be plastic. Ive always found it the hugest oxy moron that psy hippies listen to the most artificial form of music on the planet. Its abrasive and alien sounding, ffs.
