Im grateful to have lived on or near this stretch of Agricola Street for 20 years, and to see the whole neighbourhood gradually evolve into a quite wonderful place to live. A couple of the key ingredients not mentioned in the article are an unusual concentration of housing co-operatives, the diversity of activities going on (overall, it is zoned for a mix of residential, commercial, and light industry) and the presence of so many young creatives, both as caring home-owners and student tenants in need of affordable housing. In fact, I think one of the keys to the whole thing, for everyone involved, is affordability. If big money and predatory zoning can be kept at bay, the area could continue to grow outward (not upward) and afford many more people the opportunity for a decent urban life.
