Immigration authorities were expected to comment on the fears that more Malawians were likely going to be deported from South Africa. This follows the intensification of a sweeping exercise currently being conducted in that country. There have been an increased number of people who are being sent back to the country after being rounded up by the police in South Africa. The number mainly costs of the youths who go there in search of jobs and other business opportunities. It is further reported that in most cases these people do not have valid documents including work permits. They also do not have relevant travel documents. Yesterday about 100 Malawians were flown into the country through the Kamuzu international airport. Most of these have been sent back to the country after being detained at Rindera Prison. The deportations come just days before South Africans go to the polls on the 7th of May.
