Imo State (Eastern Heartland) is blessed with many young and vibrant leaders. However, a political drama takes place in the heartland monthly ,if not daily..In 1999,Gov Achike Udenwa was elected with legitimacy questions on his neck. He brillantly served and brought Redemption to the Imolites. However,Ndi Imo embraced his Tripod vision of Agriculture,Industrialization and ethtical reorientation..He handed over to Gov. Ikedi Ohakim,who untill he left Douglas house,was directionless and Visionless. Many political and usual dramas took place before and after his Selection as Imo Govano..With his eyes on third term,he offered himself for re-election in 2011 after spending four years planting flowers. As expected, Ndi Imo rejected him and said with a united voice that we cannot be ruled my a wild animal (IKIRI). They instead embraced Gov. Rochas Okorocha when he outlined his rescue mission agenda..At the polls, natural forces were left to decide who occupies the seat of power in owerri. Let me categorically state that high level corruption with impunity has reduced, literacy level increased and incredible developments have been witnessed in Imo State since Okorocha ousted ikiri. He may have wrong doings but it is obvious that the state has moved to another level of development. Indeed,Imolites have been rescued from Ikiri and Gov okorocha takes the credit...As 2015 draws nearer, some politicians have started reactivating their bases and aspiring to take over from Gov. Okorocha. One thing we,the imolites, must stop is partism .Let the best candidate rule. PDP gave us Udenwa who brought redemption, then Ohakim who could not consolidate the gains of the redeemed Imo.APGA gave us Gov. Okorocha(now in APC). So these individuals who have governed Imo State did very well( Dee Sam Mbakwe, A.Udenwa, R.okorocha). The rest( Evan Enwerem and Ikedi Ohakim) performed below expectation regardless of their lenghts of service afterall. In fairness and equity, Gov okorocha should hand over to one of the vibrant, people-oriented, philanthropic young politicians in Okigwe Zone if he does not want to seek re-election. He came for a rescued mission and we thank God that we have been rescued. Let him keep to his campaign promise of a single term. However, Imo people should chose who rules them but as a patriotic ONYE IMO, I suggest we consider these two gifts: Barr. IKE C: IBE(PDP) and Hon. Barr CHUKWUEMEKA NWAJIUBA( APC)..Any of them will surely take us to the promise Land. Every other sand is a sinking sand!!!!!.
