In 1994 I was sitting on the first base side about halfway between the foul pole and first base at field level. Somehow my college buddy scored us great seats, only a few rows back. The right fielder, a young very good player on the visiting team, caught a ball in foul territory and gave it to a fan. The only problem was there was only one out before he caught the ball. The runner on first made it all the way to third before the ball was returned to the infield. The next batter hit a home run, which in a way was a bailout because the runner scored anyway. But had he not made the mistake who knows what would have happened. It was one of the funniest moments I personally witnessed in sports. Of course for the rest of the game we were chastising the guy for his mistake.. chanting his name at every opportunity. Was anyone else at this game? Do you know who I am talking about without looking it up? I like sharing personal baseball experiences.
