In 2004, Robin Williams made a secret trip to Greensboro, where a 13-year-old girl was dying. Its my favorite story of the day. Its about Robin Williams. The real Robin Williams. Whatever character he played, whatever charities he championed, this story takes the cake. Take a look at the photos. These were provided by Mark Cole. Thats his daughter, 13-year-old Jessica in the pictures. And yes, thats the real life Robin Williams beside her. Jessica loved Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire. And when he heard she had a dying wish to meet him in person, Williams chartered a plane and showed up unannounced. That day, the incurable brain tumor didnt matter. Especially when Williams channeled Mrs. Doubtfire as only he could to alert Jessica to his presence. Before the impersonation, she couldnt recognize him. Jessicas day says Robin Williams made his little girl feel special all day. She talked about it for weeks. Williams laughed with her as if hed known her his entire life. Weeks later, Jessicas life ended. Yesterday, Williams took his own life. Fortunately, the memory they made together speaks far louder than the pain of their passing. Rest. In. Peace.
