In Panmunjeom Peace Village in Gyeonggi Province that separates North and South Korea, is the so-called “Bridge of No Return”, the site of some of the war’s fiercest battles. The bridge was where captured prisoners were exchanged by the two sides and after they crossed the bridge into either South or North, they could not go back. The bridge’s status as a prisoner exchange point by the July 27, 1953 armistice agreement that ended the combat phase of the war. Between April and November 1952, the Chinese army lost a lot of forces there. (by Jeon Dae-shik in 1993)
