In defense of high-waisted shorts.... I think when worn right (not frayed, tailor-cut, and butt-covering), high-waisted can look classy and flattering on many body types. They suck in the uncomfortable pooch solving the feared love handles. They create an instant waist for those of us with straight swimmer bodies and hug without accentuating the curvy girls with hips. I have found they dont slip down or ride up like hip-huggers if worn long enough, preventing the annoying need to pull up shorts when sitting or standing. And they allow more modest girls to wear cute crop tops without feeling insecure. So I think the better advice here would be to stop wearing them in ways that draw attention: wear them for functionality and they can be flattering. Just because they cover the hips, they dont have to be worn in a grungy or slutty hipster fashion. A higher waistline is not the granny look. I think designers of our grannies time understood the female body better than we do. Personally I think its much more of a faux pas to expose underwear than thighs. If they cover a girls butt then I dont see anything wrong with them. What do you all think?
