In the 1st Round of the Crewe Regional Sunday Football League Presidents Cup, the holders Railway Hotel fell at the 1st hurdle, although they fought hard eventually going out on penalty kicks. Ashley Walton had scored for Betley but Betley also conceded an own goal to take the game to extra time. There was no scoring in the additional 30 minutes do the tie was settled in Betley’s favour 3-1 on spot kicks. White Lion the beaten finalists last year had no problem in overcoming Salvador as they won 5-2. Darren Sumner, Gareth Canvin, Adam Griffiths, Richard Ford and David Yoxall were the Lion scorers with Tom Edge and Dave Ratciffe replying for Salvador. Steve Martin was a hero and a villain for AFC Barkode as he not only scored for them but also scored an own goal. The critical strike therefore was Graham Wrench for Rising Sun to give them the victory. AFC Lamb continued their excellent start to the season with a 4-2 win over Division rivals Wickstead. Mike Blundell (2), Ian Robinson and Callum Hassall got the goals with Joey Hilton and Mike Truan netting for Wickstead. Faddiley found Matt Ravenscroft for Bank Corner to hot to handle as he helped himself to five in their 8-1 win. Andy Garrett, Scott Slaney and Anthony Harle made up the Bank Corner tally with Dominic Eddleston getting a late Faddiley consolation. Boot & Shoe Villa also found the going hard as they went down 7-1 to Ocean Wanderers. Andy Hunter and Ben Spruce both bagged doubles with singles from Rich Hassall, Mark Parker and Tom Barnes for Ocean Wanderers. Connor Jones managed the sole strike for Villa. Sandbach Town may be riding high in Division 1 but Premier Division outfit Square One were not prepared to allow any giant killing action as they won 5-1. Steve Nurton, Lee Wilbraham, John Bebbington and Liam Walker (2) were the Square One marksmen while Olly Dunning got the Town goal. Aidie Socha and Dan Larcombe both bagged a brace for Santa Maria as they beat Leighton 4-1 whose goal came from Gareth Tomkinson. It was a really tight affair between NHB and Crewe Athletic but NHB just edged it coming out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Dave Sims and Henry Buckley. Lee Degnen got the Crewe Athletic goal. Craig Morrey, Robert Timmis and Leroy Jones were on target for FC Semtex as they beat Sydney Arms 3-0. Calvin Haughton and Jon Dawson were the Bentley Motors heroes as they beat Wrenbury 2-0. Finally there were no surprises with Wistaston Athletic against Willaston White Star as Willaston were 3-1 winners. Ben Burrow, Jordan Allen and Asher Moat did the damage for Willaston while Jordan Smith got the Wistaston strike.
