In the first volume of “Black Athena,” Mr. Martin Bernal - TopicsExpress

In the first volume of “Black Athena,” Mr. Martin Bernal described in great detail the history of ideas which ancient Greeks derived directly from ancient Hebrew texts; Ancient Egyptian, and African disciplines to formulate their own cultural foundations. Plato and Herodotus both freely wrote of their debt to such a legacy from these cultures. But in the 19th century, Bernal wrote, historians began deleting Afro Semitic contributions from the story. The precursors of Greek, and thus European, culture were seen instead as white Indo-European invaders from the north. This, due to the anti semitic and germanic nationalist movements that had started taking root in Europe two centures ago. A Masterpiece of historical analysis, its author, Martin Bernal, died this weekend. God Bless his family at this time from cmc.
