In this life, the health & well-being of the mind & body are inextricably bound; if/when one suffers, they both suffer. This same rule applies and holds true for all living beings; if/when one of us suffers, we all suffer, whether or not we are consciously or mindfully aware of this. We are all living & dying together as one single/collective life form; each of us a part of the same enormous whole. This is part of why the practice of Mettā is so important! Furthermore, to receive loving-kindness and compassion from others, we must have and show it to them; we cannot expect to receive what we do not give! This is one way that Mettā is connected to Kamma and vice versa. In the Dhamma, each rule or law interrelates and connects to the other, as each of us all interrelate and connect to each other. - Upāsaka Gandhāra Thera
