Interns and Co-ops Systems Engineer Intern/Co-Op, Applications Menlo Park, CA IT Engineering Infrastructure is looking for an Application System Engineer Intern. Our customers are Facebook the company and Facebook’s employees. We support the systems they rely on to keep the business growing and information safe. We use a combination of open source and off-the-shelf technologies, plus many of the tools developed to run facebook. You will be responsible for IT’s growing business intelligence application environments by building the infrastructure for multiple applications, automating their management, and solving scalability problems. Responsibilities Build, scale, and secure Facebook’s corporate infrastructure, focusing specifically on business intelligence tools and application environments Combine open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business Work in a heterogeneous environment containing diverse operating systems and applications, and make them work well together Find ways to leverage the scale and complexity of the larger facebook infrastructure to solve problems for IT’s customers Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on operations Work on technical stack from end-to-end: from servers to OS to databases to applications and everything in-between Have interests in the customer side of applications and be able to work well with users Troubleshoot issues related to business applications Requirements Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience Must have at least one term of school to return to following internship Understanding of business intelligence applications such as Microstrategy, Tableau, OBIEE Configuration and maintenance of common services such as Apache, Tomcat, Oracle, MySQL, NFS, DHCP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP Experience with UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals Bent on automation, efficient, and self-service Knowledge in Shell scripting and working knowledge of at least one of the following languages is required: PHP, Python, and Java Sharp and tenacious troubleshooting skills: you can fix anything Experience with common monitoring tools such as nagios Good verbal and written communications skills Detail oriented and careful Apply now https://facebook/careers/apply?job_id=a0IA0000006cQmHMAU
