#Irishwater #Oct11 Three cheers for Castletroy View Limerick well done - People Power winning - Support by sharing and beat the media blackout ty. We Wont Pay the Water Tax - Limerick Another victory for people power in Castletroy View today. After a marathon eleven and a half hour picket - from 7:20 am until 6 pm - where Irish Water attempted to get through on a number of occasions, including on one occasion with the Gardaí in attendance. On each occasion the residents made clear that they didnt want meters and held the line. One attempt this morning by Irish Water to go into Oakwood and set up there instead was met with some AAA activists following them in, knocking on doors and organising a street meeting of the community this evening. Irish Water left after they were followed and returned to the stand off at the entrance of Castletroy View. At five to six this evening, the final Irish Water van left. Residents discussed among themselves and it was agreed to make arrangements to allow the filling in of holes already dug by Irish Water but on the proviso that no heavy machines are allowed into the estate and no meters are fitted. Residents will supervise all work to ensure it is all conducted as per the agreement. The meeting at 6pm in Oakwood was attended by over 30 people (out of an estate of about 60 houses) and it was agreed that Irish Water would be stopped from installing meters there and that they would establish a We Wont Pay group in the estate. Building of the boycott of the water charges continues apace across Limerick city. There will be another meeting tomorrow night for residents across Singland to launch an area-wide non-payment campaign. Well done to everyone today! This is just the beginning.
