Islam on this basis cannot push the country towards advancements - TopicsExpress

Islam on this basis cannot push the country towards advancements but instead causes stagnations in socio-economic affair. The public’s consumer culture within Islamic states is clear evidence of such a claim. In fear of losing their place of residence, people from capital to larger cities are not prepared to travel into smaller towns and cities, which will in effect prevent the spread of expertise into various parts of the country. The result is the existence of two or more distinct cultures across the field. The presence of various forms of culture creates problems such that those from larger cities would look down on people from small towns, and vice versa. This condition would naturally create unevenness in social and economical affairs and will generate animosity amongst the various citizens of the country. One point can be raised with regard to economic collapse. For instance, many engineers and technicians who are already engaged in their normal practices in the larger cities refuse to be transferred to smaller towns in fear of losing their chances of returning to the larger cities. This condition will not be inductive for the small towns, who may have benefited from such expertise, and this will ultimately damage the entire economic progress of the nation. I find it important to mention the practice of applying laws to public correspondence during the time of Khomeini. Although the freedom of correspondence is a private human affair and is being granted throughout the Islamic states, nevertheless, the same rights are severely violated within the constitution of the Islamic state of Iran. Such violations do not apply only to international correspondence but also to internal correspondence. Such violations of individual’s rights within the Islamic state of Iran apply to media correspondence. Apart from the minority-ruling group, the freedom to receive and subscribe to magazines and other circulations in the Islamic state of Iran is denied to the public. To subscribe to foreign papers and magazines is not possible, because the exchange of foreign currencies is disallowed. No one is allowed to convert their own money into foreign transactions to purchase books or magazines from foreign countries, and this is combined with the fact that, once subscribed, the receipt of such items cannot be guaranteed. This rule unfortunately applies even to newspapers and magazines produced by other Islamic countries. All foreign circulations are available at prestigious libraries, but only certain members of society who have special access to the materials can refer to their content. In Islamic society in Iran, the security forces are continually searching postal packages. Censorship is fully operational at the post office and at the operational offices of telephone and telegraph systems. Bugging devices are in widespread use throughout the social structure in Iran. It is commonly feared by the Iranian public that their private conversations may be intercepted by the authorities, and they continuously live in fear of being detected by the security forces. Similar censorship applies to telephone conversations made to outside the country. A further anti-democratic measure of Islamic society in Iran is that of preventing peaceful street demonstrations. These are the type of demonstration that, by prior arrangement with security forces, can take place anywhere within the democratic world.
