Isoko Nation, Uduaghan, Leo Ogor Mourn Demise of First Nigerian MD of Guinness, Abel Ubeku The entire Isoko nation, Delta state of South-South Nigeria was thrown into mourning following the demise of one of its illustrious sons and first Nigerian Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Dr. Abel Ubeku, on Sunday, 9th, March, 2014 in Lagos resulting from a protracted illness. Dr. Ubeku, who was aged 78, was one time third republic presidential aspirant of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) and his death has been described by his kinsmen as a fallen iroko tree. Joining other Isokos, Deltans and Nigerians to mourn the Isoko illustrious son, the Deputy majority leader of house of representative and member representing Isoko federal constituency in the green chambers, Hon Leo Ogor Okuweh in a condolence message paid tribute to the fallen hero adding that one factor that played out each time he met the late High profile politician was his good natured personality. The condolence and tribute message signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy majority leader, Mr. Mike Akpodhoma said “With a heavy heart of grief and sympathy, the Deputy Majority Leader House of Representative, Hon Leo Ogor on behalf of his members joins the good people of Isoko nation in mourning the sudden passing away to glory of one of Isoko’s illustrious sons, former presidential aspirant under SDP and former MD/CEO of Guinness Nigeria Plc. “One factor that played out each time you met the late High Ubeku was his good natured personality. Ubeku’s death was a big blow to Nigeria, Delta State, the Isoko nation, where the deceased hailed from as well as the entire Ubeku family” and prayed God to grant all those affected, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. “Late Dr. Abel Ubuku will always be remembered for his legacy of friendship to all people across every region of Nigeria. We also remember him for his superior leadership skills, entrepreneurial spirit and fatherly qualities which served as a beacon of hope for his people of Isoko and the Nigerian nation. High Chief Dr. Abel Ubeku was a fine politician, who lived a life of commitment and dedication in his service for the people of Isoko, Delta State and Nigeria as a whole. As a true nationalist, Dr. Ubeku left no stone unturned as he worked tirelessly, for the cause of Nigeria’s unity and development. A legacy that will truly be missed, May his soul rest in Peace.” Leo Ogor Okuweh stated. In his reaction, Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan described the late Dr Abel Kprogidi Ubeku as a statesman, outstanding academic and father to all beyond his family where he was the patriarch. The Governor in a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Felix Ofou, further described the late Ubeku as a good natured personality who harboured no malice and thought no evil towards others. “For a man who had attained such an enviable height in life, you are also struck by his unmistakeable humility and open handedness. You immediately see the traits of a statesman. Dr Ubeku’s wisdom and wise jokes will be greatly missed by me and all those who had the good fortune of having an encounter with the man while alive, the former presidential aspirant was a father to me. “High Chief Ubeku was a man endowed with abundant wisdom. His bags of jokes were almost inexhaustible. Yet, you could not doubt his sound academic stature or brilliance. That was why he was like a father to me. It is really hard to imagine that such an iconic figure has gone to meet the Creator of the universe”, he enthused. According to Governor Uduaghan, the death was a big blow to Nigeria, Delta State, the Isoko nation, where the deceased hailed from as well as the entire Ubeku family and therefore prayed God to grant all those affected, the fortitude to bear the loss Also speaking in the same vein, Member representing Isoko North constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr.) Sir Tim Kome Owhefere described the fallen high profile politician as a rare breed and a pride to the Isoko nation. “I learnt with great shock and disbelief the painful demise of our father, mentor and leader, High Chief Abel Ubeku, the Oletu of Aviara. While it is a natural ordinance that all men must die someday, our daddy’s exit is however more painful given the fact that it happened at a time his wealth of experience, brilliance and fatherly wisdom are most needed to steer the Isoko ship aright. “Our late father served humanity with all sense of dignity and sincerity. As Managing Director of Guinness, his achievements were towering, and in politics, he was a rare breed and a pride to the Isoko nation.” Hon Owhefere however urged Pa Ubeku’s immediate and extended families, the entire Isoko nation and Nigerians whose lives he touched positively, to be consoled by the exemplary life of conscientiousness dependability and generosity which he led and prayed God to grant all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
