It amazes me what a live Christmas Tree can do. For years I have struggled with Christmas. (Mainly because of the lack of funds to get everything we want for our children, family and friends. But also because of the family members who have passed away.) We bought a fake tree the year I was pregnant with Landon. It was pretty, it got used...enough that it finally fell apart 2 years ago. But, something was always missing. In all the hustle and hurry and stress of Christmas...I started to hate and dread it. I would decorate the tree and house, but did it with a drudgery. Last year changed everything for us. Lance came home one night with a live tree. He had just delivered a tractor to a family in Mapleton. On his way home he and Scott passed a family farm that had trees from Oregon. So, they each bought one. I was mad at first....I didnt want to spend the $. I didnt want needles dropped all over my floor. (Secretly, I didnt want Christmas at all.) This tree was beautiful! It changed the whole spirit in our house. I actually enjoyed Christmas for a change. We decided to go get another one this year on Lances birthday. The family that had these beautiful trees last year didnt sell them this year. Uh oh. We had the trailer loaded behind the Tahoe and was ready to bring home our tree. We decided to drive down Springville Main Street and see if there were any lots. Ace Hardware was the only place that had any. Then we started to search on our phones for Christmas Tree lots. We found 2. We decided that we were hungry because we were all a little crabby and frustrated. We stopped to eat and as we pulled out of the other driveway we saw a Christmas Tree lot across the street. (Funny how we manifest things!) It was so funny to watch McKade decide with total knowing which one was our tree. He was not going to leave that place without it. He got his way! He helped strap it on the trailer. He watched it the whole way home to make sure that it didnt fall off. He decorated it. He waters it. He talks to it. Watching this little Humbug has been so fun! The tree for some reason brings a peace in the home that I can not describe. I dont hate Christmas this year. I am actually calm about it. Maybe we should have had a real tree all along.
