It is with great honor that I get to thank SS Kirk Belgrave for helping us win our first championship during his 3 years of commitment to the team as he retires today. Kirk is one of the founding players of OGK and its actually crazy how he ended up here. When I first contacted Kirk he was wrapping up his senior season at Kent State University. He was talking to me but never once got cocky and mentioned that he was being looked at by a few NFL teams including the Falcons. He would talk to me and answer all my questions. 1 day I hit him up and he didnt reply for a few days so I called him. He said You know Im at Falcons camp (I had to recover from that bombshell, id never been hit with that line lol) I said oh ok cool well if it dont workout id still like you to check us out. He said you serious aint you. I said damn right lol. So he said he would hit me up if it didnt work. We hung up and I scratched him of the list thinking this guy will never be suiting up here. A short while later I messaged him to see how he had been and he had actually been released and he said coach I was just thinking about yall, how things looking? From there it was history. The point is this guy is a man of his word and he is one of the most humble guys to have went pro that I ever met. I talk to a lot of athletes yearly and some of them play D3 ball or Juco and act like this level of football is below them or something while this man did nothing but respect the game and didnt see no difference in the levels he just wanted to ball period. Kirk thank you for helping brand OGK and staying loyal from DAY 1. You will forever be a Knight and YOUR #37 will be retired along with you sir.
