It seems I wake up and it is Friday then I wake up and it is Monday and I am oh so grateful to remember the difference. At one time I did week ends really well and now not so much. It is easier to enjoy week ends with a partner even if during many years of marriage that partner had a Saturday morning golf game. My New York friends know how to schedule week ends to relax and have time to themselves. Monday through Thursday night means fair game for work, charity events, school events and such but come the week end usually starting with early Friday afternoon, the week end is a time for relaxing in what ever way floats your boat. That could mean a week end home in the Hamptons or the Vineyard or places in between, it could mean non stop New York Times and coffee, brunch in jeans at the neighborhood spot, fun and games in the park or throwing the Frisbee for the dog, it just does not mean structured activity or anything other than a movie requiring a ticket. Churches have casual services many embrace. We do it differently. Many parents are at football games Friday night and then volleyball games, soccer games, lacrosse games and such all day long and into the evening on Saturday and even sometimes during tournaments on Sunday. Most of our black tie charity events are on the week end and certainly Friday night and Saturday night tickets to TPAC, the Opera, the Symphony are the most popular. We dress up for church and carry on to brunch. We dont have down time so to speak as we are always on the go.........until we are not and then what do we do? Next week end is not a problem. Our annual neighborhood yard sale begins at 8:00 AM on Saturday. Dianne and I have a standing appointment with our curb on Carden to set up and sell our wares. Dianne actually has some treasures but I alas usually give away more than I sell. We have fun and that is main thing. Jim and Neil could always be counted on to keep us supplied with Starbucks but now we rely on the kindness of strangers. This year I am very sparse as last year I really cleaned out things so I may need to go buy some things to sell but maybe not I will look around. If you are out and about come by and take some things off our hands or at least drive by and make fun of us which also happens more often than one would think. I am hoping to be cleaned out with the left overs delivered to the Goodwill truck so I can get downtown by 4:30 to hear part of the free concert the Symphony is putting on outside all day long. My darling friend Misha will be singing with her band at 4:45. That means I may as well stay downtown for supper although we do have outdoor movies scheduled in the neighborhood after dark. When it rains it pours but hopefully no rain next week end...........it is an all outside Saturday......... And then it is Monday..............
