Its alarming - but comforting - to me to see so many of my friends (without a Lyme diagnosis) sharing pictures like this. Ticks are not always just ticks. They carry horrid diseases that should never be taken lightly. MOST OF THE TIME, a tick bite is nothing to be concerned about, BUT there is always, ALWAYS that chance. Remove the tick -- with tweezers -- making sure you get the head. Put that sucker in a baggie & take it to the Health Department to be tested. They WILL test it for Lyme & other diseases. Make sure you are notified of the results. Laurel County is very soon to be classified as an endemic area for Lyme. Several of my friends are CDC positive for Lyme and coinfections -- and several are very sick with Lyme and coinfections but lacking a CDC diagnosis (which is very difficult to get). I KNOW I share a lot of Lyme posts. I dont do it to incite fear. I do it to educate. I know what this disease is capable of & I love all of you and never want to see you suffer due to the bite of a tick. PLEASE take precautions always.
