Its been a while since I dug into / posted anything substantive on facebook but I had to pull over and get this off my mind. Im mentally drained! People of color, and Im talking about you island hoppers too.... In America everyone is assigned a group....which is logical because we are identified by common characteristics. It doesnt matter what I achieve individual outside of material benefits to friends & family; I am a member of the African American group and people of color by default. What any member thereof does or do not do, directly affects me by perspective and association. So when young men of color depict a destructive or socially poisonous lifestyle; by default I am guilty by associative perspective....... Let me stop my tangent right there and get to the point I intended..... People of color collectively (light skinned, youre included) must figure this shit out sooner than later. We must be the most irrelevant group in the world to this day. Were proud yet irrational and illogical thus irrelevant. The most powerful tool a citizen has is the right and power to shape their environment through the 15th Amendment.... the power of the right to vote. The most regressive, hostile, and irrational members of our society does one thing well; they vote....its a right of passage for their kids at the voting age. These notions that votes do not count is an urban myth and a generational curse. You are irrelevant if you do not exercise your ability to influence the direction and continued social evolution of our society. Im appalled by the number of people who did not vote this midterm elections...... The midterm election is the most important election... Soo many of you have so much to say about everything yet understand little......which is why you didnt vote. Smdh
