Its great that people are having fun with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and even greater that the ALS Association has raised $4 million and counting in donations because of it. Still, I wouldnt be surprised if more than half the people who performed the challenge dont even know what ALS stands for, let alone its symptoms and effects. The true purpose of the challenge is to raise awareness, so Im going to take my nominations from Gideon and John, and try to do just that. Watch the video - its short, fun, colorful, and informative. Even though I learned about ALS in 9th grade Health class, I didnt retain anything. So, Im not going to pretend I knew any of the information from the video before this movement, because I didnt. If were being completely honest, I have no personal burden for victims of ALS, but that doesnt mean I (we) cant spread the message.
