Its interesting putting all of the research I learned working on my masters degree to work. For example, the English Language Learner students I am working with struggle with the short i sound (say eat instead of it; heat instead of hit, etc.). So I assign them songs to sing...like karaoke from You Tube (listening to the song being sung with lyrics). After one evening, some students return after practicing Let it Be, and they pronounce it perfectly or close to perfect, (I think depending on how much they practice). I am searching for other songs now that might be just as effective. The Beatles have a lot of songs that are good for this idea, such as She Loves You (to improve on the y sound).
