Its no secret that I was very young when I had my children. I really didnt know what I was doing, but one thing I did know is that I wanted them to have a better life than what I had. When I was 16 and pregnant with Chanel, I actually read books on parenting. A lot of the things in the books went over my head because the concepts were new to me. But what I learned is these things: 1. It takes a village! I had help! Their father, Big Dre, who wasnt Chanel biological father, but you never would have known. My grandmother, our parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, coaches, etc. 2. Kids need to know that they are LOVED! They need to be told and they need to feel it! 3. You need to know childrens business! All of it! Who are their friends? Where do they live? Who are their parents? Ask about their teachers and what goes on in classroom. Ask about their day. You cant be too nosy! 4. Keep them BUSY! Kids today do NOT need free time. An idle mind is not good. 5. Send them to church, even if you dont go! They need a good moral foundation. 6. Find out there talents and cultivate, it breeds confidence. 7. There will be hard times! Practice patience and love. What you instill in your children will get you through those times! Never ever give up on them. 8. Dont be too hard on yourself as a parent. As long as youve done the best you know how to do, youve done the best you can do. Everyone has free will, including our children! 9. Be protective! If your child tells you someone did something to them, believe them! I know this was long, but I wanted to share!
