Its opined in some quarters that the nomination of Gen Gusau as defense minister by Jonathan is to appease the northern caucus and for Jonathan to start wielding his 2015 ambition. The question however is in what way will his appointment appease the Northern Elites? How does that endear Jonathan in the minds of so many traumatized victims of bokoharam which the average person in the region came to believe is the handiwork of the govt? In my opinion its better if Jonathan can find lasting solution to bokoharam for him to get liked again in the North rather than recycling certain personalities that have dwindling popularity in the region.
