Ive been doing some research on how to extract the best 1/4 mile times out of my car, and have found there is quite a bit of room for improvement in the transmission and rear diff. Right now, there is nothing wrong with it, it shifts nice etc and ran 13.8 @ 102.x with a 2.1 60 foot on really shitty tires spinning like crazy. I have better tires on now, and have found that I can put in blue top shift solenoids for much faster and firmer shifts, along with a 3,000 rpm stall converter that is 14lbs lighter and has additional clutches inside for a stronger hold. (stock stall is 1500). For the rear diff, I would leave the stock gears alone, it already runs fairly high rpm on the freeway for a 5 speed auto, but I found that quaife makes a lsd that bolts in... I also plan to do a proven exhaust modification (dyno proven results of 15-20whp) and a ecu/tcu tune that has dyno proven gains of around 20-25whp .. because louder is better and more power helps.... My goal with these mods, the shift kit, stall converter, lsd rear , exhaust, tune and better tires, would be to shave at least a full second or more off the 1/4. So.. about 30-35whp over the stock 349, with a lot more traction, and right in the power band off the line...Am I crazy or is this feasible...
