Ive been looking up neolithic sites across the big pond lately and taken new interest in one place specifically, Maeshowe in Orkney Scotland. Its a chambered cairn mound (earthlodge) with a trench or moat around the perimeter dated to 3000 BC, same as Poverty Point. Carbon dating done at the base shows the structure was begun being built closer to 4000 BC, closer to the time period of Watson Brake and Caral. The entrance is aligned with the Winter solstice and etc, etc. The whole island of Orkney is a major neolithic complex. Locals claim it was built by giants. If unfamiliar check it out! Its a very interesting place.
