Ive been thinking a lot about several friends, neighbors, and camp parents these days. They work at the CDC. (We live not far, and several campuses are all around our area.) These men and women are dedicated epidemiologists and public health professionals who work with the Ebola virus -- some going to Liberia, some going again; some work with HIV/AIDS in hunting down transmission, treatment, research; some work on maternal mortality in places like Afghanistan and Africa; and some have built the flu reporting network here at home that allows monitoring of the flu year round so that resources may be sent where needed. These dedicated people dont get a lot of love. Their budgets have been cut drastically in the last several years. Morale is not very high. So take a moment of your day to thank a CDC person, or put a message on their vast and incredibly informative website (for your use.) They all deserve our gratitude.
