Ive been thinking about it. 2015 should bring us auto adjusting jackets, self tightening shoes, hover boards, flying cars and holographic 3D movies as well as some potentially questionable fashion styles. Granted, we have till October for all these things to show up so maybe everything will work out. If we do not reach the potential shown in Back to the Future II then I can only blame Biff. Now Im sure some of you would think Doc Brown or Marty might be responsible. They did do quite a bit to mess with the time line after all. However, the aforementioned technology survived Doc and Marty traveling through time until they had to fix Biffs meddling. The first trip back to 1955 could have actually brought about the future 2015. Its hard to say for sure how much effect those events had on the timeline outside the apparent improvement in the McFly family stature. We know that Doc traveled to the future and at the very least hover technology and cold fusion driven by garbage was a mass produced product during this trip. Whatever he may have done to this point did not affect the timeline and any changes to the future time would not have altered the events and technology up to October 2015 only events after that point in time. When Biff traveled back in time we clearly see big changes to 1985 that would have almost certainly destroyed the potential technology for 2015. Doc and Marty went back to 1985 to fix things but likely couldnt completely repair the timeline so there is a small chance that 2015 was messed up at this point. More importantly, these events resulted in Doc being thrown back to 1885 and Marty also going back to 1885. This far back in the time line even small changes would have large effect on the future with the changes of 1885 to 2015 timeline being much greater than the 1955 to 1985 changes we have seen. Back in 1885 Doc saves a woman who should have died. This is a very large change in history. He also introduced various technologies to the past that shouldnt have existed, which could have potentially affected future technology. Even one person looking at what hes done and losing hope at being an inventor because they wouldnt be able to accomplish that much could have devastating consequences. Maybe the great grandfather of the person who invents these future technologies was an inventor of little note that inspired future generations to greater achievements but because of Doc in 1885 he doesnt follow that path or maybe some young girl was inspired by the death of a frontier school teacher to believe she could do more. No matter the fluctuation, if we do not have the important technology we should have by October 2015 we will know that Biff is to blame because he set off the string of events that resulted in additional changes to 1955 and worse 1885.
