Ive been thinking about you so much my friend, Jo Lyndy. I wasnt well so didnt see you before you died, or make it to your funeral. I am so sad about that. You were a special person to me. Remember we met soon after I arrived in Brisbane. I was 18 and you seemed so old at 20. We set up house with Kelly Lappan at Ashington St West End. We spent nights dancing around the house to the Go Gos and weekends dancing at Nightbirds. You were finishing an Arts degree and were sick of assignments. You asked me to write one for you on first wave feminism. To our amazement I got a distinction. You took Kel and I to the Indian restaurant at the West End Markets to celebrate. After wed eaten you and Kel decided we should bolt. When I got up I was in such a state of shock I knocked the whole table over! We ran all the way home in hysterics. At the end of 1983 Kel & I moved to Sydney and you went to Canberra to a fancy job with the public service. You rode your bike to our place in Newtown almost every weekend. We got up to lots of mischief with many all nighters. Soon you moved to Sydney right around the corner from me. You were there for me when my sister Sue died and I will always love you for that. With our girlfriends Rachel & Pon we spent nights at The Settlement in Redfern rocking out to The Warrumpi band and at the Trade Union Club seeing Deborah Conway. Then you decided you wanted a baby so found a donor and moved back to Brisbane where Matthew was born. You did a law degree when he was a baby. What a legend you were! Our lives went in different directions but then one year we found each other at Woodford. From then on wed camp together at The Dreaming & Woodford. Wed drink wine, laugh and tell stories about our beautiful boys. I had wonderful adventures with you Jo Lyndy. It is hard to say goodbye.
