Ive had it. Lets cut to the chase on this issue. Common Core has the same stench as ObamaCare. Poorly premised, more poorly planned ... and a disaster with national fall-out that will shake this nation to its roots. Its further proof that anything turned over to federal control is a folly-exercise in warped expectation. Theyre inept. And theyre devious in defense of their ineptness. And they expect us to swallow their rot ... and follow their scheming ... as though were sheep. Screw them all. Ive had it. Im weary and worn out listening to vapid apologists defending the indefensible. My ears hurt from all the rhetorical bullshit thats heaped on us by the truck load ... and then how were made to feel like ozone-heads because we have the onions to speak up for the obvious. Ive had it with politicians abusing logic until its unrecognizable. Ive had with classroom-allergic, pointy-headed sages telling master teachers all about the craft they know nothing about. Ive had it with privileged-elitists who secure positions of influence via social whoring ... and then who proceed to tell us all that were misguided and unaware ... and dumb. Ive had it with my own politeness, too. Ive tried to be logical and pensive. Ive run out of patience because all I see is an array of the self-appointed superiors who have this incessant devotion to commanding us all to buck-up and lower our noggins ... like sheep. Im done. This is done. If they wont listen then its time to make them listen ... and if that calls for tactics beyond polite, well, then I intend to be a goddamn fine tactician ... and very impolite. I dont abandon kids. I spent a lifetime saving their souls, massaging their brains and promising them a sweeter tomorrow. I dont intend to back-track on thirty years of commitment to folks I will forever call my students. Im not built that way ... and my soul doesnt have that sort of swivel. Ive had it with all the wordy pussy-footing that seems to never end. Screw data and screw anyone who dares reduce a child to a statistical point on some cheesy graph ... and then tell me out-loud that I refuse to understand. Im not the one in need of understanding ... theyre ones in dire need of understanding. You cannot reduce education to factory terms. Were not bolting together cabinets or slapping bumpers on cars. Were carefully handling children because they need careful handling. Unlike cabinets or cars, their growth is not measured by quality control contraptions. Theyre human beings. Small, new human beings. And thats been buried in these discussions of percentiles and modules and data. Ive had it with folks who want to gut the humanness from the wonder of education. Perhaps one day Ill see it differently ... when some genius can measure the sparkle in a childs eye ... or translate a simple grin of success on a childs face. Until that unlikely day, I say time and again ... Ive had it. Denis Ian
