Ive heard a lot of people getting all frazzled lately about a few unique problems/issues/changes (whatever you want to call them) related to Facebook Marketing. And I personally think its time for me to say a few things. Because the mis-information out there is just getting to be too much. But first, I need to state a few things... #1) If youre listening/reading stuff from me, you are a marketer who is doing business on Facebook. You are not a social media marketer. You are not all about getting fans. You are not going to panic when everyone is screaming, Its all over!! Run!! You are about using Facebook to find new customers. Facebook is nothing more than a vessel, and there is always going to be an opportunity as long as an enormous amount of people on this site. Ive been doing this for almost 5 years, and I cant tell you how many different times people have screamed that Facebook is a sinking ship. Yet here we (and 1,000s of our customers) are, finding customers and building something real using Facebook. #2) Dont fall victim to group-think! This isnt even just about Facebook. This is just a life skill. When everyone runs one way, turn around and find the opportunity in the other direction... When the Great Depression hit, there were a select few great minds who refused to let their fire burn out. Their unrelenting passion in the face of overwhelming adversity created some of the greatest inventions, industries, and businesses that have lasted generations. Everyone elses reality doesnt have to be yours :) #3) People were screaming that Facebook is over when the Default Landing Tab was gone in 2011, when Timeline became mandatory is early 2012, when Facebook Ads starting shutting down accounts left and right in late 2012, and on and on it goes. So now that the issues are about declining organic reach for page owners, the popular opinion that people dont buy off of Facebook, and that Facebook Ads arent as cheap as they used to be, forgive me for rolling my eyes. Declining organic reach is real. But let me be the first to say: so what?? This issue is temporary. Its happened before, and it will happen again. Dont sweat it. Again, there is always an opportunity when change happens. Be willing to think outside the box in all aspects of your life. And when it comes to Facebook marketing stuff, I can help you out! Anyway, Ill go ahead and end my rant right there. I want to encourage you that when everyone thinks one thing, there is always a big opportunity staring everyone in the face. Be the person who is open enough to see the new opportunity :) And one last thing! Ive been thinking about these mis-conceptions lately, and have considered putting together a quick free training video or report about why Facebook still has enormous value to businesses.
