I’m not usually as reflective in a status however I wanted to - TopicsExpress

I’m not usually as reflective in a status however I wanted to share a thought, albeit a very long one and perhaps a stating of the obvious...Nevertheless; 7 years ago today my dad left our world. From that day, I vowed to myself that never again would I get het up about or fixated upon the trivial things that really dont matter. Needless to say, it is not always that easy because more often than not it’s the trivial things that dominate our minds in our day to day life. However one thing I have learnt is to attempt to put life into prospective as often as I can and appreciate what we still do have. I regularly remind myself that I am lucky to have had an education (something I have taken for granted my whole life) to have a supportive family, to have supportive friends, to be given opportunities, to be given choices and to have a roof over my head. And thats just the start. Losing the people you love is shit quite frankly, in fact really shit, but appreciating what you still have in your life especially the people, is happiness at its best. The relationships we develop throughout our life form the foundation of our journey and are testament of the fact that we are not walking/running/riding or however you’re doing it, alone. Inevitably we can all get annoyed, say things we shouldnt, make judgements of one another and make mistakes, because we are only human. But remembering that each and every one of us are fighting our own battles, no matter how big and small and accepting that we cannot change what has already passed makes life a lot easier. Looking to what others have can be detrimental to our own self-worth and happiness, and more often than not our perception is wrong. Ultimately Gratitude has got to be one of the most powerful and rewarding emotions we feel whether you’re the person showing it or receiving it but sometimes it can be hard to find. All the above points can be exceptionally difficult to consider when having a bad day, but that’s when it’s probably the most helpful. So, cherish your loved ones embrace the good moments and have a good day. Anyway people, as you were...
