Jemima* is fourteen. She is the oldest of six children who have all been removed from their parents care after Jemima told a neighbour that her parents were physically and emotionally abusing her and her siblings. They have also witnessed a lot of violence between their parents. Other family members have come forward to look after them, but there simply isn’t space for all six of them. Jemima is used to looking after her siblings and behaves like a parent to them. It’s been agreed that, at least for now, Jemima needs the chance to be a young person and the best place for her is with foster carers.
