Jeremiah 23:6 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The LORD our righteousness. Romans 9:29-33 29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. 30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33 as it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. What we see here is that righteousness without faith in Jesus (the LORD is our righteousness, justification, and judge). Just going through the motions is meaningless without faith! James 2:18-20 (KJV) 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Ok, now we see that faith is meaningless without works. Well, what does that mean? Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For by grace are ye saved THROUGH faith; and that NOT of YOURSELVES: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any MAN should boast. 10 For we are HIS workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto GOOD WORKS, which GOD hath BEFORE ordained that we should walk in them. Here we see it all summed up.. you are saved by grace THROUGH FAITH! But, faith without works is dead right? Yes, without GODS WORK! Not your own.. for we are HIS WORKMANSHIP created in Christ Jesus unto GOOD WORKS that GOD BEFORW ORDAINED .. the 10 COMMANDMENTS!!
